Dental Implants

A dental implant is a prosthetic device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is usually made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. Unlike a dental bridge, an implant itself can be permanent and does not decay.

A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth’s root and can anchor one or multiple artificial teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture.  Their main advantage is the feeling of having your tooth back, as it was before you had it removed. In addition, you no longer need to have your own adjacent teeth “filed and crowned” in order to replace missing teeth in between.

Also, if replacing many (or all) teeth, there is a highly significant improvement in retention and stability of removable dentures, not to mention the potential to fabricate a smaller, more comfortable prosthesis that can be affixed entirely onto the implants.
